Finally, a warm day on the farm in Illinois! I'm not saying it is spring, but it was warm enough to melt snow and the sun was out giving some hope of warmer days to come.
I spent the day working on some new pieces of summer. Even on a day when it is over 35, thoughts of summer are warmer still. It was a good day to finish some of the garden cleaning I did not get done last summer. It seems like in the fall there is always that one more thing to do...that just doesn't get done before the cold hits and I head indoors to hibernate for the winter months.
The calf is out in new pastures and happy to not be spending so much time in the barn stall. The chickens and duck are anxious to get out and stretch their legs, but a couple more days of warmth before that is possible.
A new piece with a frog is finally done. Even though they are snug in their winter homes, the songs of frogs singing on a long summer night can still be heard in my mind late in winter.
