As an illustrator, it seems like I am always a holiday or season ahead of everyone else. Most people are thinking about St. Patricks' Day or Easter, I'm working on July Fourth through Christmas, or working on ideas for a 2011 calendar! Of course life on the farm is kind of the same way. I just planted seeds in flats for tomatoes and peppers that will be set out when the weather warms (and they guarantee it will). Of course, like the art that is months in advance, the plants are also something I do trusting in the future. Maybe there is a good lesson to be learned from the garden season, I plant with all the faith in the world I will get a good harvest, and if I don't, there is always next year. Hopefully that is how we all plant our lives as well.
Here is a new piece I just finished for summer. I have some apple trees that are yet to bear, but they still inspire new work!
